It is not a big secret that my culinary skills are some what lacking. Anytime we try something new in the Hansen kitchen it usually means my hubby is involved. He is actually a pretty fantastic cook and loves to try new things. ( no comment on the deep fried cauliflower) you can't win every time.....But his latest experiment was to make persimmon jam, I know, I didn't know what they were either. But someone in the ward apparently grows them and really likes us so he gave us a bunch. The persimmon pudding Carl tried last week wasn't his biggest success either so he decided to bottle them as jam. I haven't tried it yet, but with 6 cups of sugar it can't be that bad. I'll keep you posted on whether you can expect a delicious little jar of jam for your next gift from us or not........
mmmm...persimmons...we used to have an entire orchard. you can make yummy cookies with them if you have the big mushy ones. by the way, you are a master at those delicious caramel gooey bar things. next experiment....phyllo dough!!!
Caleb is 13 and ready to start 8th grade. I can't believe I have a teenager. He is super smart and pretty much the coolest kid. His favorite sport is basketball and he loves his ipod.
Ashlee
Ashlee is 9 and is the sweetest girl. She is a huge help with the baby and she still loves horses and all animals.
Sydney
Sydney is 6 and loads of trouble. She will be starting 1st grade this year. She is very creative and has a silly sense of humor.
Ethan
Ethan is 6 months old and is seriously the sweetest baby ever. He is happy and loves his brother and sisters. We sure do love this little guy.
“If you are still in the process of raising children . . . be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -to your surprise- miss them profoundly.” President Thomas S. Monson
