Spanglish

Apparently Syd is learning some "Spanish". Tonight I was outside BBQ'n some tri tip and Syd was outside with me. My allergies are horrible right now so I am sneezing a lot. Here is how our conversation went down.....
Me: Syd, can you go get me kleenex please? I can't leave the BBQ.

Syd: You mean tissue?

Me: Yep.

Syd: I know. Kleenex is tissue in Spanish. I know Spanish mom!

She is pretty awesome, and clever.

Last Game

Saturday was Caleb's last regular season Baseball game. He did a great job. 3 hits and 1 walk. Their team was down to only 7 players and Caleb is short stop so he was running all over the field. We lost but not by much considering we had no outfielder's. He has improved so much this season and was a great leader on his team.
Our friend Nate.

One of his hits.

Rootbeer floats, uno and toes.........

Carl was gone all last week on business and life gets a little crazy with baseball, open houses, band concerts, b-day parties, scouts and riding lessons, not to mention homework and the usual stuff that goes on. So by Friday night I was pretty worn out and more than a little grouchy. I sent the kids to bed a little early just for some peace but then felt pretty guilty about it. I went up to see them and the girls were already asleep (the busy week wore them out too). But Caleb was still up reading so I told him to come downstairs with me. It was almost 10 and he was suspicious whether he was in trouble or not, but we ended up having root beer floats and an UNO challenge. I won BTW. It was so much fun just having some one on one time with him. He is getting so big and grown up. I keep telling Carl we only have a little more time before he is a teenager and hates us so I better take advantage when I can. On Saturday after Caleb's game I took miss Ashlee to get her toes painted. She loves having time with us too. I get lots of time with Sydney but sometimes life makes it hard to get that same time with Caleb and Ash. I am so thankful for each of my kids and their unique personalities. Oh and I am REALLY thankful when dad comes home from a long trip.

Park

I watched Sawyer, Riley and baby Patton today while their moms went to a tea party for the 3rd graders. We had so much fun. We went to the park and the girls played princess castle and Sawyer played "Captain Sawyer the Pirate". Just listening to the 3 of them talk is hilarious. I gave them turns with the camera too and they had fun taking pictures of each other and anything else they thought was interesting.

Sawyer's shoe fell off and he aske Syd to get it for him, but she had to take a picture of it first.

Miss Riley took this one of her own feet.

Open House

On Thursday we went to see how Sydney is doing in her little pre-school. We got to look through her workbooks and see what things she likes to do. She also showed us her mad skills on the monkey bars. She never wants to go to school in the morning, but she loves it when she's there. She will have one more year of pre-school before kindergarten.

Sydney and Miss Jenny.

She has a hard time smiling natural as soon as the camera is on her.

Her list of favorite things.

Money bar skills.

Chi Running........

I am reading this book right now to try and figure out how to run with less pain....... my 10 mile run last weekend caused some pain in my heels that I felt every morning this week. And this book swears to teach you how to run from your core and experience injury-free running. I'll keep you posted on whether it works or not.

Jog-A-Thon

Today was the Jog-A-Thon at the kiddos school. I was on the committee to help with it. It was actually pretty great because it rained on us and kept the kids cool. Last year it was so hot that we were spraying them down with the hose while they were running. Ashlee ran the shorter track, but she won for the most laps in her class, so she gets to go to a pizza party. I was pretty excited for her. Both of the kids really like to run. Syd wanted to run too but then decided playing in the rain with her umbrella posse was more fun.

Ashlee and her friend Katie.
